Auflug! Visit to beekeeper Franziska

Visit to "our" beekeeper Franziska, in the Kolonie Panke.
Lovely afternoon, learned a lot about bees and beekeeping in the sunny garden.
Thanx again Franziska!

At beekeeper Franziska

Young Friends of the Earth Europe and Dickes Bee reCAPturing Food and Agriculture!

Young Friends of the Earth Europe and BUNDjugend invited Dickes Bee to their "reCAPturing food & agriculture!" event.

What these motivated young europeans wanted was to "learn about, plan together and take action for more sustainable food and agriculture in Europe and the world".

It was just before the "Wir haben es satt!" demonstration on January 19th, where 20.000 people joined in Berlin to say "we have had enough" of the current food and farming system.

Elgin and Emilie, two current bees, were happy to talk about food coops, present Dickes Bee and chat with this enthousiatic group!

Dickes Bee Presentation, with beautiful pictures from Jessica Kamens

Many thanx to YFoEE and BUNDJugend for inviting us !

l'ape berlino a Venezia? the Bee in Venice...

In September 2012, the Dickes Bee made two appearances in Venice, Italy!

Emi Bryan, a former Bee (before she flew out of Berlin), made the Dickes Bee the focus of her architecture project...she pitched the idea of converting the bunkers at Humboldthain Park into our new hive.

Not only did Emi involve the members in the process, and come up with a super professional presentation, but her project won the international environmental prize for the competition! Congrats, Emi!

Kap was in Venice to visit the installation of her project...the full presentation (pdfs) is also available in paper at the Hive.

Emi's project was presented in the Palazzo Bembo.

Emi's installation at the palazzo:
1st prize in environmental impact!
Description of the competition:

(the installation was really neat, the space converted to feel like a bunker or trench - with army mesh, binoculars and "spy" identity cards (Emi being one of them...)

...then...just one week later, the Dickes Bee appeared at the International Conference on Degrowth: Ecological Sustainability and Social Equity!

Kristine Müller, a current Bee who has been with the coop since its beginning, submitted an accepted abstract and created a poster/ about the coop...not to mention, spent a few days at the conference in Venice representing us.

Kristine's academic poster (pdf) will be displayed at the Hive for the rest of 2012, then it will go back into its archive.

So, grazie mille to our two bella Bee's...! and congratulations!

Undress... we have a Kleidertausch!

Dickes Bee organizes a Kleidertausch / Clothing Swap!
Wann: Sunday 2 September, 18:00 - 20:00
Wo: Prinzenallee 58, 2. Hinterhof, grüne Tür

Slow Travel Berlin writes about Dickes Bee

Tam Eastley has written a personalized and spunky article about Dickes Bee for Slow Travel Berlin. It answers the two questions: why food coops, and what sets Dickes Bee apart from other food coops?...thanks Tam and Paul!

Senseship (interview and feature)

senseship ("meaningful experiences made easy") is a new website featuring local projects and audio tours, for people eager to get active.

"Senseship aims at social change with an active and positive attitude" and that's exactly what the Dickes Bee is about. We are glad to be featured on senseship... Also Listen to a interview with Kap (17 minute). Danke Verena!

Slow Travel Berlin: 22 April 2012

On Sunday April 22 Slow Travel Berlin organizes an event around Creativity, Culture and Cuisine in Markthalle IX, Kreuzberg.
